In June 2023, GoCanvas was rapidly growing, and the People team faced challenges with the company’s people enablement process setup. GoCanvas needed a new platform to keep pace with the organization’s increasing size and complexity.
Before implementing Leapsome, GoCanvas relied on multiple, disconnected systems for different HR functions. This fragmentation led to operational inefficiencies, making it difficult to manage employee engagement, learning, and goal tracking; managers and individual contributors had to navigate different platforms for related tasks, increasing the complexity of day-to-day operations.
Susan Fort, Senior Director of Training and Development at the company, shares: “We had a bunch of different systems. We used one tool for engagement surveys and a separate learning platform, and we were trying to manage goals — but that wasn’t working as well as it could have.”

The GoCanvas team conducted extensive research to find the right solution for consolidating HR processes into a single platform. They evaluated numerous products and found that many lacked a Learning Management System (LMS) — a crucial feature for GoCanvas, given the company’s robust training program. With Leapsome, GoCanvas could streamline the assignment and management of training modules, making it easier to onboard new hires by automatically setting them up within Leapsome Learning and initiating and starting a self-paced onboarding program.

The new LMS process with Leapsome also ensured that all current employees could stay up-to-date with key knowledge even as this changed. For example, when GoCanvas launches major product updates, employees are notified that they have new content to learn on Leapsome and are prompted to complete these additional learning modules.
Additionally, GoCanvas recently integrated with another company, and Leapsome seamlessly brought together both organizations’ robust learning programs into one centralized platform.

GoCanvas also significantly refined its performance review process, creating a more structured, data-driven approach to identifying and developing top talent.
Managers can now fairly assess employee performance and potential, using performance data to accurately categorize top employees as “rockstars” and “superstars,” facilitating targeted development conversations and strategic retention plans.

Utilizing a blend of standard and custom questions, the team runs weekly pulse engagement surveys that inform executive team reviews. “It’s very important to our CEO and executive team that we have high participation there because they are looking at those analytics every week,” Susan shares.
