Leapsome’s Workforce Trends Report, 2024

The information below is based on our research in December 2024 and January 2025. All user feedback referenced in the text has been sourced from independent software review platforms (like G2 and Capterra) in December 2024 and January 2025.

1. Leapsome

Leapsome product image showing a HRIS time tracking and timesheet interface

Leapsome is an AI-powered HR platform that automates, connects, and simplifies core People processes — including performance reviews, goal-setting, learning and development, absence management, time tracking, and payroll.

The platform enables organizations to centralize HR tasks while enhancing employee engagement and professional growth, making it particularly attractive for businesses prioritizing people-first strategies.

We recently expanded our software solution to include an intelligent, comprehensive HRIS tool, so People teams can now manage their HR tasks and people enablement initiatives in one place. Our platform is also easy for employees, managers, and HR professionals to use and covers the whole employee lifecycle, from onboarding to exit interviews.

Most importantly, Leapsome’s tools are holistic and people-centered. Unlike other options on the market, our roots are in employee enablement — so we know that prioritizing your people and investing in their engagement and development is critical to business success.

💬 From Reddit: “Leapsome was more focused on employee development. Instead of just evaluating performance, it emphasized helping people grow in their roles. I liked how it connected personal development goals with team objectives.”

Leapsome is saving us lots of time during our performance appraisals and helps us build an open, value-oriented feedback culture. Leapsome enhances meaningful feedback and employee engagement. It’s a must-have for every company at any stage. We are growing toward 750 employees, but the rollout was easy, fast, and successful nonetheless. The great customer support helped us through the whole onboarding process.

With the help of the people analytics, you can quickly understand the significance of the results. We also frequently use the 1:1 function, which, although very simple, is extremely useful.

We see the People team as a partner team rather than an admin team. We want to focus on our employees and not on processes. With Leapsome, we have automated the manual work around feedback and career development so that we can spend our time with our people: understanding their needs, guiding them through their very own DCMN lifecycle, and helping them find purpose in what they do.

2. BambooHR

A compilation of images showing different parts of the BambooHR HRIS platform, including a company feed, rewards overview, and personal profile.

BambooHR is a well-known HRIS with tools for onboarding, payroll, and employee data management.

BambooHR’s prebuilt reports and analytics help track HR performance; however, many essential features, like payroll and time tracking, are add-ons to the BambooHR Core plan. So, if you choose BambooHR as your HRIS of choice, you’ll need to consider your package’s potentially high price to cover all bases as your business grows.

💬 From Reddit: “Because BambooHR bought their ‘built-in’ payroll, Trax, it doesn't have a full 360-degree integration like other platforms. It also has some other weird nuances that my team has had to work through when it comes to other functions, such as offers and time tracking. I've found you either love it or hate it.”

HiBob is a feature-rich platform with a user-friendly interface for analyzing People data and streamlining HR operations.

However, HiBob’s pricing structure often requires additional investments in add-ons and integrations to fully meet HR and employee enablement needs. Users have also highlighted issues with frequent updates causing disruptions and limitations in workforce planning features.

💬 From G2: “Easy to integrate with other platforms, which has allowed us to use a best-in-suite approach to systems… Sometimes the updates ‘break’ the previous setup, or it isn’t clear what’s changing and the downstream impact.”

Top features

  • Core HR
  • Onboarding workflows
  • Time off and attendance tracking
  • Compensation management
  • Automated payroll

Lattice’s new HRIS covers employee record management, onboarding, HR workflow management, and payroll. It provides reporting and dashboards that are particularly useful for managers and HR team members.

While Lattice offers a broad range of tools, some users have noted areas for improvement, including challenges with feature depth and ease of integration with other software. Additionally, certain advanced functionalities, like pulse surveys and time tracking, may require additional setup and effort to maximize their potential.

💬 From G2: “It’s a decent tool, easy to use, but most features of the software — like engagement, tasks — aren’t utilized at all as it's not easy to integrate with other software we use.”

5. Personio

Screenshot of the Personio user interface showing a headcount report dashboard.

Personio is an HR software solution with tools for absence management, document management, and preliminary payroll, alongside other HR capabilities.

However, the platform’s design introduces some limitations for larger enterprises, such as limited customization options to meet specific local requirements, and occasionally confusing permission settings. These factors mean larger organizations might encounter workarounds to accommodate their needs.

💬 From G2: “A good HR all-rounder tool. The app is pretty intuitive and provides everything one might need for work from an HR perspective… Time tracking could be better and display the time left in hours/minutes too.”

Top features

  • Some users feel more customization options would allow the platform to better meet local requirements
  • Some users find permission settings confusing
  • Geared toward SMBs, so workarounds may be needed for larger companies

6. Rippling

Product image of a tasks dashboard on the Rippling HRIS platfrom, showing the selection of available apps.

Rippling is an IT-focused HR platform well-known for its automations and global workforce management capabilities. Its HRIS solution is particularly valued for its scalability and advanced analytics for complex needs.

However, Rippling’s advanced functionality comes with a steep learning curve, which may pose challenges for teams new to HR software. Users have also noted that its onboarding process can be confusing and that it lacks the number of pre-built templates and workflows offered by competitors. Pricing can be a hurdle for startups, and some users would prefer more advanced reporting customization.

💬 From Reddit:  “I thought Rippling was fine, but they're still new. When I used them, I felt like I was actively beta-testing the system constantly. I think [in] another five years, they'll be great.”

Top features

A screenshot of a home dashboard interface within UKG.

UKG Pro is a comprehensive HRIS designed for enterprise-level organizations. It offers a suite of HR and talent management tools, payroll and tax management features, as well as people analytics and reporting capabilities that support workforce management at scale.

UKG Pro is geared toward organizations that have global, industry-specific needs — like those related to payroll processing and tax compliance. So, it might not be the best solution for small businesses with simple HR requirements and less money to spend.

💬 From G2: “The functionality is excellent, but there might be other options out there that have more of an ‘all-in-one shop’ for employees and resources. But I’d recommend it!”

Top features

  • Time and attendance tracking
  • Scheduling
  • Data-backed analytics
  • Compliance management
  • Strategic workforce planning
  • Communication and collaboration tools

8. Workday

Product image of the Workday HRIS dashboard, showing an HR Partner Overview.

Workday’s is a comprehensive, cloud-based human capital management (HCM) platform designed to streamline HR processes across global organizations. It’s a unified solution for talent management, payroll, benefits administration, time tracking, and analytics, and is known for its intuitive user interface and powerful reporting capabilities.

However, Workday’s premium pricing might pose challenges for organizations with more modest budgets. It also may be too complex a solution for smaller, growing businesses and startups.

💬 From Reddit: “Workday can do some really cool things to custom fit for your organization. It’s very process-driven and can get complex very quickly… It just doesn't have the nicest end-user experience in my opinion. It looks very “systemy,” if that makes sense. I spent a lot of time using UltiPro (UKG) and preferred the look and feel of it (and the reporting capabilities), but I do think overall Workday operates better as an HRIS.”
